From hot weather to cool treats and sweet deals, summer is now here and the community rang it in by kicking-off its second annual Essex Centre StreetFest series.
With vendors lining the main core of Talbot Street, and storefronts expanding their presence Saturday afternoon, the main street was hopping with activity as part of the kick-off to summer and the second edition of the Essex Centre StreetFest.
The festival offers the community a chance to enjoy local brick and mortar businesses, along with local artisan vendors showcasing their own talents and items.
“It’s amazing the people of Essex are so wonderful at supporting local and it’s been incredible to see the event grow,” Krista Sweet, owner of FATE said. She is one of three businesses that created Essex Centre StreetFest. “A lot of people in the community were asking for an event like this, so each time it’s great to see it grow and see everyone out walking, enjoying themselves, and supporting local.”
On hand, there were vendors offering an array of items, from home wares to kitchen cabinets, patio furniture, and food vendors, to pet goods and jewelry. Sweet noted there was something for everyone. In addition to the vendors, there was entertainment as well, from street performers and musicians, including James Staley.
“Just seeing the streets filled with people makes me happy,” Sweet said. “We have people come from everywhere and it’s so great. We are excited for our future events, too, with some great entertainment. We have space for the future events, as well, and are always looking for more participants.”
Saturday’s event was the first of three in the 2025 calendar, with the next one slated to be August 16, from 5pm to 9pm. The last StreetFest of 2025 falls into autumn on October 11.
Sweet invites anyone interested in participating as a vendor to connect with Essex Centre StreetFest on social media. She is thankful for all who attended and participated and hopes to see everyone again soon.
