Essex OPP - UPDATE - Looking to identify suspicious person

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Essex County Detachment has identified the person of interest in relation to an ongoing investigations in Essex County.


On Thursday, June 2, 2022 at 10:35 p.m., Essex Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a suspicious person on Cameron Avenue in the Town of Essex.


On Sunday, June 12, 2022 at 11:03 p.m. a homeowner on County Road 34 in the Town of Tecumseh contacted OPP to report that he had scared off male party looking into his front window.


As a result of information received from the public, the Essex County OPP Crime Unit has identified and charged 35 year-old Denny DUMAS of Tecumseh with:


· Mischief -under $5000 X3


· Trespassing at Night X3


· Criminal Harassment X2


The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on July 26, 2022 to speak to the charges.

On Thursday, June 2, 2022 at 10:35 p.m., Essex Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a suspicious person on Cameron Avenue in the Town of Essex.


The complainant reported that she had observed on her security camera an unknown male looking through her front window. When officers arrived, the male was already gone.


On June 12, 2022 at 11:03 p.m. a homeowner on County Road 34 in the Town of Tecumseh contacted OPP to report that he had scared off male party looking into his front window. The image of the male is captured on video tiptoeing on his porch looking into the window and then gets scared off. Male is described as white, brown hair, glasses, light coloured Nike tank top, dark shorts with stripe running down the side.


Police are looking for assistance with identifying this individual. If you can help, contact the Essex County OPP Crime Unit at 1-888-310-1122.


Essex County OPP remind the public to be aware of their personal safety at all times by ensuring your doors and windows are secured, and the blinds or curtains are drawn at night.
