On October 11, 2020 at approximately 8:00 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the report of a disturbance on Tracey Crescent in the Town of Essex.
It was reported that a man had uttered threats to and pointed a firearm at a neighbour and fired the gun into the air.
The area was contained by OPP uniformed members, members of the Essex County Emergency Response Team (ERT) and K-9 unit. Neighbours in the area were evacuated.
The suspect was observed by police to exit and re-enter his residence numerous times at which point he was engaged by police and taken into custody.
The suspect was transported to an area hospital for the treatment of a minor dog bite wound obtained during the arrest.
Timothy HEBERT, 58-years-old of Essex will appear at a bail hearing on October 13, 2020, charged with the following offences:
- Assault with a Weapon
- Utter Threats to cause Bodily Harm
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Fail to Comply with Undertaking
