Teddy Bear Picnic and Movie Night wraps-up the summer season right

by Sylene Argent, Local Journalism Initiative

Area families were invited to take in a teddy bear picnic and movie in the park on Saturday evening, using up the last of the summer weather.

The Town of Essex hosted the annual Movie Night & Teddy Bear Picnic inside the Heritage Gardens Park, where the big inflatable screen was set up to show “How to Train Your Dragon” at dusk. Of course, they were able to snack on the free popcorn, provided at this special movie screening.

Several of the youths brought along their own teddy bears to join in the evening of fun and adventure.

Before claiming a spot to set up their seat or blanket out in front of the big screen, youths were able to participate in the Teddy Bear Picnic, where they were able to interact with a giant teddy bear, decorate cookies, make crafts, play lawn games, and explore a fire truck brought onsite by Essex Fire & Rescue.

This family-fun evening was offered by the Town of Essex, the Essex Centre BIA, and the Essex Arts, Culture and Tourism (ACT) Committee.
